South Florida Temple Site Announced

Copied from the Florida Ft. Lauderdale Mission Blog.
The temple site is located in the NE quadrant of the intersection of Interstate 75 and Griffin Road, located within the city of Davie.

The conceptual temple renderings were available under the direction of each stake president for viewing in each of the four stake devotionals wherein the site was announced. The renderings however have not yet be released to the public and subject to approval. Visits to the proposed site or "drive bys" through the residential neighborhoods surrounding the site are strongly discouraged as this may be disrupt the approval process resultant of increased traffic and or on-site activity. Above all we desire to be good neighbors and maintain strong relationships with our neighbors and friends in and around this site and throughout the community of South Florida.

May 24, 2010--The Temple!

Isn't it so exciting that they announced where the temple will be?? I think it is! Its going to be in Davie. Pretty close to Ft Lauderdale and it will be the South Florida mission. It is a little weird, but at the same time I like it. So many people know where South Florida is as opposed to Ft Lauderdale. Haha ridiculous, but true.

I had a really good experience this week. A girl from the Hollywood ward wants to serve a mission. she is slightly autistic and has epilepsy, so they wanted to know if she would be able to serve a mission. For whatever reason she was sent to us to do a mini mission. I had met her before in Boca Raton when she did one with Sisters Moore and Lowe. Actually serving with her was difficult, but a great learning experience. She is so Christlike and completely understands her purpose as a missionary. We had to report back to President Hale about how we think she would do as a full-time proselyting missionary. Unfortunately we don't think she would be able to handle it. Its something very emotional that we don't think she would be able to handle. Some guy yelled at her through the window to get off his porch when she knocked on his door to give him a pass a long card. It nearly crushed her. We're also really afraid of how companions would treat her. We don't want her to get hurt in any way.

I got your business cards on Saturday. They are so dang cute! We were over at a members last night for dinner and she pulled up your blog for us. It's so adorable! I've been giving the cards out a lot. Anyone who compliments me I'm like "HERE!"

There is a new couple in the ward from Layton, UT! They both went to Layton High! The guy's name is Jared Christensen. He graduated the same year as Ann Millard and Kim Fitzgerald. Ask them if they remember him. He's in medical school down here. The sister is Angie Lord (that was her maiden name). She's a couple of years older than him. I'm not sure who she would have gone to school with.

My June package. No worries. All four of us sisters will be staying in our areas. Me and Hermana L will be here all summer. So probably for the next 2 transfers. I don't know what else to suggest to put in it. We like the window clings because we have a big sliding glass door in our living room. Could you send one of the orange Amish orange peels? I have lame thumbs and can't start peeling an orange for the life of me.

I got a letter from Jess this week. She sent me family pic. I LOVE IT SO MUCH!!! It's so dang cute! It made me SO Happy. I put it next to the picture of the morning I left that she took and one that Elder Swain sent to me. Right above my study desk.

I'm so glad you got to meet Heather ! I love her so much! Mom--I'm not going to date any elder from my mission. I think totally opposite of Sister Holdstock.

May 17, 2010--Hey Guys!

Hey Guys!

How has your week been? Mine was pretty good. I went on exchanges with Sister Call Monday through Wednesday and it was really fun. We were trying to think of somewhere to meet up, and we wanted to do something fun because it was p-day, so we decided to go to the zoo! It was okay...a lot of animals...they had a ton of wide open space of nothing, so that made it kind of boring. The funnest part of the whole thing was that we got to ride a camel!!! How cool is that?? His name is Charlie. It was the funniest thing. We just laughed the entire time. No worries. I got pictures. My favorite animal was the zebra. The gorilla was really cool. He was in such deep thought when we were there. I got pictures of that too. He's huge. We got to see giraffe's running across their whole "area." They look retarded when they run. It was cool to see though.
I got to meet a lot of cool people down in Homestead. They have a lot of cool people that they are teaching. Mostly it was just fun to be with Sister Call. I love her so much. There are a ton of farms down there (the Church has like 30,000 cows or something like that down there). It was REALLY weird going from the city of Miami down to the rural of all rurals. I think I've turned into a city girl. Crap. I came back and just loved being in the city and with a ton of people all around. It's going to be weird going back home. It'll be one huge adjustment. Haha

Saturday we were on our bikes and we were at a greenery looking for a citrinella (sp) plant because I get eaten alive in the middle of the night. I've woden up 4 nights in a row now with bites just covering my arms. It's really frustrating. Anyway, so my bike was locked up against a fence--out of the way--not in anyone's business. Well, I get it all locked up and we start walking off. There was this big truck in the parking lot trying to back up. I just had this feeling to turn around. Right as I did the guy backed into my bike and bent my back wheel. Yeah, I was really frustrated, but I kept my cool really well. Hermana L was so proud of me. The guy jumped out of his truck and asked if everything was alright. I told him I couldn't ride it. He said he was sorry and then walked off. I of course didn't even think to ask him to pay for my new wheel.... DOH! So I called CTR bikes this morning and they are shipping me a new one. The price was a lot lower that what President and I thought it was going to be. It was only $35 with $7.50 for shipping. Sorry MOM!!!! I feel so bad!!

Not much else has happened this week. We have two investigators set for baptism on Saturday, but they didn't come to church yesterday so now we have to push it back a week. Armando, 14 and his mom Aida. Keep them in your prayers! I'll let you know more next week. We meet with them tomorrow.

I'm sorry this is so short and scattered. I've got a cold and am having a hard time thinking right now.

LOVE YOU ALL!!!

May 10, 2010--Thank You!!

Thank you so much for being there last night! It was such a fun time. It was good to hear your laughs and to see how each of you are doing. I'm so greatful to have knelt in prayer with my family on my mission, even though we are so far apart.
I'm so grateful that each of you are doing so well! Thank you for being there for me!
I wish I had stuff to add, but I don't.... I told you everything last night! haha I'm out of stories!!!
LOVE YOU!!

I so called it!!

Oh my gosh! I totally called Sister Pirotta being engaged a week after she got home. I even told her when I talked to her her last Tuesday here. Haha she just laughed, but knew it was true too.

Anyway! That is so sad to hear about Mark Harmon. I hope they will remember to lean on Heavenly Father during this hard time. I know, it sounds so preachy but it's true. That is the only way they are going to make it through this.

It's been kinda a slow week for us too. We've done some tracting, and a lot of biking. I seriously love the bike! I feel so good after we bike 12-16 miles! It's amazing! Just to let you know. When a missionary goes home they have the option of shipping their bike home (parents pay for it) or selling it for a cheaper price to another missionary. I want mine shipped home. I'll totally use it as my mode of transportation in the summer. It's so great! I love it! Get all of yours tuned up and start riding them because we'll be on them a lot in 10ish months.

Anyway. Tracting is so fun. That is where you find your kookiest people, all your funny stories, and all your miracles. We'll be doing it all this week, so hopefully I'll have some stories for ya next week.

On Monday May 10-12 me and Sister L get to do exchanges with the Homestead sisters. I am going down to Homestead with Sister Call, and Sister Crane is coming up with Sister L. We're so excited. The Homestead sisters just wanted to do exchanges with us, so they called their Zone Leaders and they set it up with the Assistants. I'm excited! And then the Kendall sisters are doing them with the Hialeah sisters on the 12-14. Sister Lowe is coming to Kendall with Sister Briggs and Sister Vance is going to Hialeah with Sister Boyd. We're all so excited!!! And then.....! On the 18-20 a girl named Jackie from the Hollywood Ward is coming down and doing a mini-mission with us. She is is slightly autistic, so the Bishop of her ward is trying to decide if she is fully capable of serving a proselyting mission. She did one in Boca with Sister Moore while I was there (Tell Sister Moore-she'd be way happy).

Dad--don't worry. I am not throwing the pillowcases away. That is my favorite part of the month! I love getting them! I told you guys back in like October that when I get home I am going to cut them all up and make a quilt out of them. I have one in mind.... It's going to be awesome! I'll be sending them home sometime soon (probably not this week). I've got all my winter shirts that I certainly don't need and one of my blankets. It's hot here! I think I'll be sending my princess one home. Be nice to it! Take care of it! It's going to be really hard for me to let go of it!!!

I loved the package on Friday! Sister L LOVES her bag! She shows it to everyone. Haha no worries, I always make sure they know my mom made it. They all think you should start your own business down here and I should be the one to run the store when I am done with my mission. Haha yeah, we'll see....

I LOVE all the pictures!!!!! Thank you so much! Next time, can you just send Char Char?? I'll pick him up at the airport. No worries. I miss them so much!!!!!!

The pictures that you got from Elder Wilcox's mom were the ones I was going to send you on the day of service. Sister L has some more on her card. I'll get them from her and send them to you.

I'm sorry, this email is going to be lame. We had a slow week. I didn't even take any pictures. Wow. That's pretty much Sister L's job. She's always got her camera out. I'm not very good at it these past two transfers.

I love you guys So much!!!!! Thank you so much for everything!
Love, Sister Denson

Oh, I guess I should tell you. We'll be calling you at 7:00 FL time. The Elders parents have church later, and since we are doing it all together we had to schedule it around them. This way you can go to Kobe's ordination and open house. I really want you guys to go to that. Take pictures everyone!
LOVE YOU!!
