It's crazy to think that it's only day after tomorrow... I want each of you to know that I have put my heart and soul into being a missionary. It's the best decision I have made thus far in my life to serve here in South Florida. I wish you could understand the love I have for this part of the world and especially the people here. They will always have a special, special place in my heart. Almost each person I have met in the last 18 months has changed my life in one way or another. And I mean it. Every single one of them. Because I have served a mission I have had the opportunity to strengthen my relationship with my Heavenly Father and my Savior, Jesus Christ. I know exactly who I am and I will never doubt that again in my life. I love the basic gospel principles are true and that when we apply them to our lives we are HAPPY. Not just for a little while, but for forever. I have joy and peace in my heart. My cup is full and overflowing. I want each of you to also know that I KNOW that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and without we are NOTHING. Don't take it for granted. If you do, you are only distancing yourself from Heavenly Father. We need to read it daily in order to maintain that beautiful, intimate relationship we can have with him. Just because I am coming home and the tag will be off I will still always be sharing the gospel. My study habits will not change, but they will adjust to my new schedule. I will not let my faith be doubted or waivered.<br />
<br />
I love you all and I am truly excited to see you! Even if it was just 4 months ago that we were together. Know that we all represent Jesus Christ and that we need to "Be thou and example of the believers."<br />
<br />
Love, Sister Denson<br />

It's come way too fast. This week is going to be very bittersweet. I would imagine it will be the same for you guys too. It's unfortunately been a slow week, teaching-wise, but at the same time way too fast. We've had miracles though. <br />
<br />
Ramiel's baptism date has been pushed back to the 19th. He came to church yesterday, so he technically could be baptized, but we haven't taught him everything and he hasn't prayed to know if it is true. Please keep him in your prayers! He needs it right now. We have another investigator. Her name is Milka. I feel so honored to teach her. She is struggling right now to overcome her alcohol addiction. When we first met with her she refused to pray, but eventually did anyway. The second time the same thing happened. The third she was a completely different person. She was trying to find a place where she could register for AA, but had one bottle of rum left. She was planning on calling them after she finished the bottle. Obviously we discouraged it and testified to her. She has her agency though. That was Wednesday night. Saturday when I texted her to check up on her she let us know that she hadn't called the number yet, but that she had given the bottle of rum away!!!!!! How amazing is that! She has major trust issues, but has confided in us, mostly me because I've known her longer, but she let the spirit touch her as she prayed the other night. She's already asked if she could come visit me in Utah. I'm going to miss her so much!! She is progressing steadily!! And at her own free will. She is so great! Thank heavens for unlimited texting and other resources to stay in touch!<br />
<br />
It's so amazing that even in the final weeks of serving we are still meeting people who significantly touch our lives. I know I have been sent to Coral Springs for a reason. I wasn't terribly excited to be here at the beginning of the transfer, to be honest, but I love it so much now! It was hard to come back to a family ward, but I have met the greatest people.<br />
I love being a part of this work and never want it to end! I am truly converted to being a member of this Restored Gospel. I'm excited to apply the things I've learned in the steady upward trend that I've become a part of. Heavenly Father is always there for us. Even in the best of times, but mostly in the hardest of times. All we have to do is turn to him. Do our part. Willingly turn to His extended arms of mercy.<br />
<br />
(I can't believe how emotional I am today. I definitely didn't expect this when we walked out the door this morning! haha)<br />
<br />
I love you guys! You mean the world to me! I can't express the love and support I have been given and appreciated for the past 18 months. <br />
<br />
Love, Sister Denson <br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">President's email:</span> <br />
<span style="font-size: large;"></span> <br />
Hey President-- <br />
<br />
This has been an interesting week. Definitely a change from being with Sister Lealaogata. I miss her. Being with Sister Miller is challenging me. I love her, but our personalities are very different. You know that... I'm grateful though that this change has occurred because Heavenly Father is testing me until the end. I've asked him over and over to help me finish strong and with good experiences. I didn't expect a companion change, but understand why. I've prayed a lot. A lot, and of course he is blessing me so much as I continue to work and help progress this area. I love Coral Springs and I am SO grateful that I got to serve here. Some of the members have changed my life and outlook on things, even though I've only known some of them such a short amount of time. We have a specific investigator right now that I know I was supposed to meet and teach. It's so amazing the way Heavenly Father works. I know this last full week is going to be a bittersweet one. I'm excited for next phase in life, but it's going to be hard to leave this one behind. Except, I won't really be "leaving it behind." My mission has changed me and it has helped me set patterns to help me continue to progress for the rest of my life. I always want to be a part of that steady upward trend that you are always talking about. These have been the best 18 months of my life so far, but I'm not at my peak of progression, I'm just getting started! <br />
<br />
I truly hope you know what an influence you have been in my life. Remember, I'm just around the corner. You and Sister Hale will all be a part of my life forever and of course into the eternities. I'm excited to see you Sunday for my interview.<br />
<br />
With all my love, Sister DensonMichelle Densonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07482019658020025508noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1075896216993610867.post-59635932090224436312011-01-24T10:57:00.001-07:002011-01-24T13:37:00.554-07:00January 24, 2011--New CompanionshipCrazy story: Saturday night (10:00pm) we got a phone call that Sister L was being transferred and that she was going back Spanish speaking. Weird.... Very unexpected.... President said that another sister was going home due to medical reasons. He said Sister L needed to have her bags at the chapel with her Sunday morning at Stake Conference. Stake Conference was great! We had M. Keith Giddens of the Seventy come speak. We've had SO many general authorities lately, it's Insane!! We're SO blessed!! But after conference Sister L went up to West Palm Beach with Sister Hebdon and I went back to our apartment with Sister Nielson. About 6:00 last night Elder and Sister Hogge brought me my new official companion, Sister Miller, and we were in a trio for the remainder of the night. They came again this morning to get Sister Nielson to take her to the airport. Keep her in your prayers. The doctors don't know exactly what it is wrong. It was so weird. She is the second sister I have sent off to go home unexpectedly (Sister Christensen being the first). And she is the 5th sister to go home unexpectedly. I was the first. What a horrible trend I've started!!! I feel so bad for all of them! Lol But I came back!!! They should follow that trend too!!!!! Sister Nielson will be back for sure though.<br />
<br />
We had a great week though! One of our investigators, Milka, texted us late Thursday night saying that she wanted to come to church! It was so fun! We were so excited! She told us that she couldn't come a couple days before that. We figured that was going to be our biggest struggle with her--getting her to church--because she works every Sunday morning. Well....she loved church so much that she said she's coming next week too!!! It made me so happy! I love her so much! She's 25, Haitian and is a punk. Lol She's funny though. I love her. This week when we see her we told her we would bring her a treat. Of course she doesn't eat just an American treat...she wants a Haitian treat. We have to go to a Haitian restaurant and get her something. Lol THAT will be an experience! I've never done that before. It sounds worth it though. Greasy pork with smashed and fried plantains with rice. Mmm...<br />
<br />
Ramiel is still set for the 5th, but we have A LOT to teach him still. He's buffed us on our last 2 appointments and he's only been to church once.<br />
<br />
We've been teaching a girl, Ashley, 11, since I got here. Her mom is a JW and her dad is LDS. Don't ask me how that works.... But her dad wants her to be taught. Her mom is really supportive of it, surprisingly. Last night I taught her with Sister Nielson and it was the most amazing/spiritual/successful lesson I have had with her. Sister Nielson rocks! She was so good with her! I love Ashley. She is very knowledgeable about the gospel of Jesus Christ and she truly wants to know if our church is true or if her moms is. She's great. She says the most amazing prayers. Last night she prayed for Sister L and Sister Crane and all the missionaries all over the world. She's 11!!! Most of our members don't even pray for the missionaries all over the world!! It was so awesome!! Little things like that just fill my heart with SO much joy!!! I love this work and I LOVE sharing the gospel!! Yesterday at stake conference President Current said, "It's a privilege to share the gospel." Strangely enough I had never thought of that. It really hit me yesterday. What a privilege and honor it is to teach people that we have a loving Heavenly Father and about our Savior and what he has done for us. I love it!!!!!<br />
<br />
I'll get your souvenirs the last p-day (new month, new miles).<br />
<br />
I'm excited to see Mal's baby bump! I always want to ask for pictures, but at the same time I don't ask for them because I want to see it in person first! Lol I love the updates that she sends me each week.<br />
<br />
I hope you all have a great week! Stay warm! It's cold here again FYI.... I wore my boots and tights again yesterday.<br />
<br />
Love you all!!<br />
<br />
Love, Sister Denson <br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">President's Email:</span> <br />
Hey President- <br />
<br />
What an unexpected call we got Saturday night. Lol of course I'm sad to let her go, but 1 I'm SO excited she gets to finish Spanish, and 2 I'll see her in 2 weeks. I'm down with that. Sister Miller is great so far. I've never served around her and really know nothing about her. It's going to be a fun 2ish weeks. Weird. Two weeks? I'm so grateful for these last few weeks. Its been fun to be with Sister L because we're both just wanting to work hard and finish strong. I'm excited to be with Sister Miller because she is the same way. She's on fire and loves talking to everyone. It's going to help me a lot. <br />
<br />
I feel like I should be nervous about taking over the area--because I've only been here 3ish weeks, but I'm not. I've recently gotten to know A LOT of the members and I seriously love this area. We're going to have a lot of fun. I'm excited!<br />
<br />
Stake Conference was so awesome yesterday! I learned something from each talk that was given. I love the Pompano Beach Stake. It was so fun to see so many members from the Boca Raton ward and the Boynton Beach ward. It made me happy to see those whom I love so much one last time. Bittersweet.<br />
<br />
I love you President Hale! You are SO great! I hope you know how much I love you and how much us missionaries in general love you!<br />
<br />
With love, Sister Denson<br />

"This round of personal priesthood interviews took (is taking) place in each of the individual missionary apartments throughout the mission. Sister Hale was (is) able to join President Hale for each of them. As always Sister Hale added her special touch by baking a small loaf of home-made bread for each missionary. <br />

Uh, duh we can! It's our chapel, and we start church at 11:30, and if it means we get to see President Lake then OF COURSE! We just figured he had some meeting or something at the chapel and wanted to say hi to us. Wrong! I saw their truck pull into the parking lot (I was in the foyer chatting), and was chatting with someone when I glanced to my right and saw President and Sister Lake walking up the hall. Yay! Sister Lake came too!! (If you didn't know--she's my favorite!) But then I did a double take because I recognized the couple that was walking up the hall behind them. Daren and Heather Checketts?? What on earth are they doing here? Coral Springs of all places.... It was such a fun surprise and it was fun to chat with all 4 of them. What a small world that they are here for a conference and that their friends that they came with know the Lakes!! That was SO kind of the Lakes to bring them down to us a Coral Springs. They got to attend the Boca Raton ward for Sacrament Meeting! Lucky!!!<br />
<br />
<br />
This week has been fun! Of course it has, I'm with Sister L!! The work is slow right now, but we were able to set one of our investigators with a date. Remiel, 28, for Feb. 5th. Keep him in your prayers! We were able to set a lot of appointment for the coming week with a lot of new people! We're so excited for them! It's going to be a great week!<br />
<br />
Sounds like you had a fun day yesterday in Idaho. I love Sister Crane. She's great. She is loved SO much here!! Lol all last week people were asking us if we were able to talk to her yet. OBVIOUSLY they don't know anything about missionary life.... haha<br />
<br />
Thanks for the pictures.<br />
<br />
I just need two things for this week. Lol <br />
<br />
1. The Hot Chocolate cookie recipe. We had so many extra that we took some to the Buhlers and Sister Buhler LOVED them! She wants the recipe.<br />
<br />
2. Mom, will you tell Brady Stephens about my homecoming? Just find him on Facebook. I've thought of him a lot this week, not sure why, but I'd love to see him when I get home... Tell him I said Hi. I don't have an address for him. Maybe you can get one from him...<br />
<br />
Okay, I have 3 things.<br />
<br />
3. I am buying some conditioner and leave-in cream today. I'm not buying a big conditioner, just a small one. It would weigh too much in my luggage for the trip home.<br />
<br />
I hope you have a wonderful week! Don't let the paint fumes get to you too much! <br />
<br />
LOVE YA!!<br />
Love, Sister DensonMichelle Densonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07482019658020025508noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1075896216993610867.post-63818761142817196392011-01-03T11:10:00.001-07:002011-01-03T18:15:17.109-07:00January 3, 2011--Ya'll are gonna flip!!I love my new area and I love the weather and I love my companion!!! This is going to be such a great transfer! I couldn't have asked for a better "final" companion. It's most definitely weird to be back in a family ward and to have little kids running all around. And babies. Babies are everywhere and I want to actually hold one and I can't! No fair! I got quite used to the silent singles branch. Oh wait;) have I told you where I am yet? I'm in the Coral Springs ward with freakin' Hermana Lealaogata!!! Shut up. I know! What on earth is Heavenly Father thinking??? This will definitely be a great experience for us and for the last transfer for both of us. Hahaha I love her so much! I'm SO stoked for this transfer! The last few days have been GREAT!!! It's so fun to be with her since we have both grown so much since we were together last.<br />
<br />
Sounds like Mom, Dad and Mal have had a great week! Haven't heard from the rest of you......wink wink<br />
<br />
We haven't had much of an eventful week. Ya know, just preaching the greatest message ever! We got out on bike--the weather is BEAUTIFUL!<br />
<br />
I really don't know what else to say.... I'm sorry!<br />
<br />
I only have 2 pictures to send this time. One of us, our "new" companionship and one of our New Years sleepover. We're on the third floor, Hermana Lealaogata wanted to sleep on the balcony, it was too cold for me, we pulled out the hide-a-bed and put my mattress on top of that. Lol she's a nut.<br />
<br />
Oh, just kidding. I have more pictures to send. I had to say goodbye to a lot of missionaries. It was the last time I'll see them until they get home or come to Utah... Didn't get as many pictures as I wanted to, but it's okay... Sister Zitting, Elder Steele, Sister May, Elder Ricks' family came back a couple of weeks ago. Lol they visited us at our apartment. He's the greatest. His family is adorable. Not the best of our companionship. Just took it this morning while headed out the door. No worries, there will be more....<br />
<br />
I love you all! Have a great week! Have fun back at school and work!<br />
<br />
Love, Sister Denson <br />

</div>Wednesday was such a GREAT day! It was so amazing to see that me and Hermana Lealaogata are back together! I'm so grateful and excited for this final transfer for both of us. I feel like I'm serving with one of my best friends. My eternal companion as Elder Zwick put it. That was such a powerful experience to hear from him and his sweet wife. It's definitely made me ponder and reflect a lot this week.<br />
<br />
I'm excited to serve in the Coral Springs ward and most definitely with President Current. He is so amazing. I love serving with him. <br />
<br />
This transfer is going to be the BEST! I'm excited to "be in the middle of my mission" and have the excitement for the work still. It was so great to see all of you yesterday.<br />
<br />
Thank you so much for everything!<br />

It's just crazy to me. I remember seeing the dates that I would be serving and 2011 seemed SO far off. I was like, "Oh, this isn't going to fly by...2011 is SO far away!!" Say what??? Yeah, it's in 4 days! It's insane.</div><div style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif;"> </div><div style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif;">I just want to know if/when we are coming back. People are asking me left and right when I am going home and when I am coming back. It's like I have a stamp on my forehead that says, "Leaving Soon!" And I bet it is flashing! It drives me nuts. Oh well, it's part of the package. I want to come back in April/May. That's a beautiful time of year!!</div><div style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif;"> </div><div style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif;">This is for after I get home, but Mom, can you set up a hair appointment for me for right aftre I get home. I'm already in need. Lol Thanks!</div><div style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif;"> </div><div style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif;">Yes, I am being transfered. Remember how I left my heart in Miami? Lol Well, I got it back! I am so grateful for the almost 3 weeks that I've been able to have here. I love the people SO much and I saw a lot of them from the 4th ward that completely changed my life. Gosh,I love them all so much. I love being a missionary!!!!!!</div><div style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif;"> </div><div style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif;">My CTR ring. I really really REALLY want to wear it right now. I don't want to have to wait 6 weeks. Do you think that by the time I sent it home, go it exchanged and got it back it would be like 6 weeks? If so, I'll just wait. I only need it a half size bigger, I'm pretty sure....</div><div style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif;"> </div><div style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif;">I really don't have a lot to report on this week. I just talked to you..... Christmas Day was good. We had lunch with the Tracy's, went home for an hour, went to Aracely's (our RS pres), she's Mexican and we had carne asada for dinner. YUM!!! It was so good!! I love having real latin food! Not from a restaruant....</div><div style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif;"> </div><div style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif;">Remeber the Non-member BYU guy that we taught? Bradley? He's back and we've been teaching him. He's great. Last night his mom invited us over for dinner. Bradley was really nervous, because his parents aren't huge on religion. Well, he was wrong. Lol It was SO great!! They asked us so many questions and they LOVE Mormons. It was so great to finally sit down with them and tell them what it was really like first hand. His dad is so awesome. I just kept telling them to go to Mormon. org, because they're not ready for the elders yet--they're not that interested, but I just know that when his dad sees the website and feels the spirit that he is going to convert! We seriously wouldn't be surprised if his dad joins before Bradley does. Lol That'll totally help with Bradley's conversion though! Yay!!</div><div style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif;"> </div><div style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif;">Well, I hope you have a great week and a happy new year!!</div><div style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif;">Love you all!</div><div style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif;">Love, Sister Denson</div><div style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif;"><br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<div>President-</div><div> </div><div>I was TOTALLY shocked last night when Elder Stevens called and told me that I was being transfered. I was for sure that I was staying here this last transfer. Of course I am sad about it, because this is my most favorite area in the mission, but I am also okay with it. It feels natural. No worries, I'm not crying and haven't cried and won't cry. I think the hardest part about leaving will be leaving my companion. I love her with all my heart. She is such a hard worker and she has such a love for being a missionary and such a love for the people. She is so great! I'm so grateful that I at least got these almost 3 weeks with her.</div><div>I'm so excited for a new are and a new companion though! It'll be such a great transfer and such a great note to end on!</div><div>I love you so much! It's PERFECT!!</span><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">On Christmas Day, we were able to visit with Sammi via SKYPE. We struggled to get it all set up and working well...her computer sent choppy videos which froze frequently and the microphone wouldn't work. She ended up calling us from the Tracy's house phone to our home phone and we just put it on speaker. It was so great to talk to her, share our stories, see her face, etc. We can't wait for 45 more days!!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">These are a couple of pictures we "snapped" in SKYPE. Check our her <i>CURLY </i>hair!!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

Not going to the hospital. 2. Sleeping in my own bed. 3. Not getting a pill lodged in my throat. (See last Christmas' excitement <a href="http://sistersamanthadenson.blogspot.com/2009/12/december-25-2009-our-christmas-phone.html">here</a>.) 4. Enjoying the beautiful holiday with my companion and the members down here in Miami. Lol Sound good? Oh, and 5. Calling home between noon and one. We can only talk for 40 minutes. And it's okay, I promise. We'll be seeing each other soon enough....</div><div style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif;">Yeah, It's been feezing down here. I had to buy boots because of my circulation problem. Remember that? IT's been killing me these past couple of weeks. We were doing a booth at one of the local campus' (handing out pass along cards and inviting). That morning though we were in the chapel having our district council and I about froze to death and though my feet were going to fall off. They hurt so bad. I felt like I was in Utah! Ugh! I'm in FLORIDA for crying out loud! So then we went and did this booth. I had thick black tights on, and two pairs of socks. By the end of the two hours I couldn't feel my feet. I'm really glad I bought them though!! I can't imagine what my feet would have felt like in just the little flats that I have. I wore it with my big grey skirt, a sweater and my wool coat. Lol one of the elders that we were with, their investigator, said us sisters looked eligant. Haha sure. We were just miserable and feezing! I'll for sure be able to wear the boots at home. I'm considering wearing them off the plane!! They're so cute though!! Thanks!</div><div style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif;">I'm sending off the Christmas package today. Its small, just to let you know. Not everyone is getting a gift... I figure I'll get better stuff in February when I have more time.</div><div style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif;">Question: When are we planning on coming back to visit? Like a million people asked me yesterday when I was going home. It bites, but I'm just glad I'm not freaking out about it and that I'm still focused and obedient. Gotta finish strong!!</div><div style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif;">If my package doesn't get here by Friday or Saturday DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT!! I'll be getting the most for Christmas and Sister Hendrix has some too, but we've already decided that we're going to open ours later in the day in our room together. We don't want to make the others more sad. So it's okay. Really, Dont sweat it. I'm just excited to talk to you all.</div><div style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif;">I love you all!!! Have a great week!! Talk to you Saturday!</div><div style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif;">Love, Sister Denson</div><div style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;">President's email:</span></div><div style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif;"><div>President-</div><div> </div><div>This week has been great. It doesn't show numberswise, but I am still having fun and still fulfilling my purpose. I have such a great companion. She is such a hard worker and she loves the YSA so much! And you're right--she is a GREAT teacher! I am excited to be here with her at this time in each of our missions. She is in a great spot and just has a desire to do her best. I feel like she is having the same experiences I've had on my mission and so it's fun to tell her how I've grown and how the Atonement has helped me.</div><div><br />
We have had fun talking to our members all week on how they can rescue their friends and family members. The YSA are so great!! I love being here again with the people that I love SO much!</div><div><br />
</div><div>This holiday season is so great and such a special time to be with these young single adults and to feel of their fire and love for the gospel.</div><div><br />
</div><div>Thank you so much for everything!</div><div>Merry Christmas!</div><div>Love, Sister Denson</div></div><div style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br />
</div>Michelle Densonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07482019658020025508noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1075896216993610867.post-22690505153412489232010-12-13T14:05:00.000-07:002010-12-13T14:05:17.129-07:00December 13, 2010--An Amazing Weekend!This has been such an amazing weekend! The first part of the week was rough. I found out Monday afternoon that the Nova sisters area was closing. It made me SO sad! Also losing my favorite companion was really hard. There just wasn't enough work going on for two companionships to be there, and since President is short on sisters right now it was my area that was closed. Wednesday night made up for everything though. When President told me where I was going I just about lost it. I love this area with all my heart. It's been my dream to come back down here, but I honestly never thought it would happen. Heavenly Father is SO good to me! It was hard to leave the area, the sisters that I lived with and the elders that I served with, but I just love it down here. I'm home.<br />
<br />
Yesterday and Saturday was amazing. We found out it who our guest speaker was when he walked in the door. It was fantastic. Sister Uchtdorf is hilarious and especially with her thick German accent and broken English. Lol when she would get excited she couldn't think of the words in English so President Uchtdorf would have to help her. It was adroable. It was so amazing to hear from a Prophet of God speak directly and specifically to the FL Ft Lauderdale missionaries. He's amazing. And yes, better looking in person. I'm so grateful for his counsel and for that opportunity. I will treasure it always.<br />
<br />
We've got some great investigators right now. The week has been crazy, so I'm excited to finally get all settled in today so that we can dive into the work with this new companionship. I love Hermana Hendrix so much! She's great! She's going to be another life long friend.<br />
<br />
I'm sorry this email is short. The experience with President Uchtdorf was something very spiritual and sacred and personal to me. I know that he is a man of God and that he is leading and guiding the Church with President Monson and President Eyring only though our Savior.<br />

</div><div style="text-align: left;">This has been one crazy week! I've never had such a hard time saying goodbye to a companion as I did with Sister Katterfeld. I love her so much. She's so much more than just a companion to me. She's a life long friend. As you know it was really hard for me to leave Nova. I love the YSA up there, but when I found out I was going back to Snapper Creek all was well :) I absolutely love serving with President Perez and the members down here. The branch has changed so much since I left. I didn't recognized half the people at Sacrament Meeting yesterday, but I'm so excited to get to know them all. Being back in the Kendall chapel was a dream come true. I saw so many members from the 4th ward who have had a HUGE inflence on me. I love them SO much. I really just can't get the smile off my face to be back.</div><br />
How have I seen the hand of the Lord in my life lately? Putting me back in Snapper Creek, and with one of the most amazing sisters that we have in the mission. I love her so much. We are already going to be great friends and we already work so well together. She's amazing. Something that is huge for me right now and will be for the remainder of my time is the desire to finish strong and obedient. I've only got one chance to be here and to serve Him like this, and so I don't want to have any regrets. I feel like I am "in the middle of my mission." It's great. I'm so grateful for that.<br />
<br />
Christmas Conference was spectaular. I loved every minute of it. A very spiritual and sacred memory that I will cherish always.<br />
<br />
I love you so much! I'm excited for Wednesday! See you then!<br />

Departing Sacrament Meeting; Palm Springs, Miami</div>Michelle Densonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07482019658020025508noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1075896216993610867.post-50760755281680642342010-12-06T13:19:00.002-07:002010-12-07T11:35:43.702-07:00December 6, 2010--It's beginning to FEEL like Christmas! BRR!!Hey Guys!<br />
<br />
Wasn't that Christmas devotional wonderful last night? I absolutely love that President Uchtdorf pulled in the Grinch for us. He would. But He had a very good point about it all. It's so sad to see all the material things down here that people care for. They've got the money, so why not spend it. It's so sad. I'm grateful we get to share the gospel at such a beautiful time of year! Seeing all the Christmas decorations at the conference center last night made me really miss the snow! It's been really chilly down here. Especially for me. Twice this week I was so cold that my bones were hurting me. That's a bad sign.... Friday night I was in a lot of pain. My joints and bones hurt from being so cold. Saturday I could hardly walk because my left hip was just killing me. I took my anti-inflammatory and then had to ask the elders for some Tylenol (they live in the same complex as us). It dulled the pain, but didn't take it all away. I think sending my coat down would be a good idea. We always make fun of the people for wearing parkas, but I definitely need mine. Thanks!! I'm just really REALLY not looking forward to coming home in February of all months. I'm going to FREEZE, if not die.....<br />
<br />
Like you see in my email to President we have had a great week! Our investigators are doing great and we have 2 with dates! Crystal, that came to the devotional last night, is outstanding. Sometimes it almost feels too good to be true, ya know...? We just keep praying for her and that everything will go as planned. Allison is going to be a little harder, but I love her SO much! She suffers from depression, so it is going to be more of a rollercoaster ride with her. We're going to help her understand the Atonement so that she can overcome depression. Please keep both of them in your prayers.<br />
<br />
Like I also said I lose Sister Katterfeld this week. Tomorrow actually. I love her so so much! We clicked perfectly from the first second we were together. Haha yesterday I let her borrow my white jacket and blue polka dot skirt. I told her I must really love her because I've never let companions borrow my clothes before. Haha I do though! I love her SO much! I don't think she'll be able to call you--same rules apply to her as they do to me--but all you have to do is go to Temple Square and ask one of the other sisters. They'll find her easily for you. That's what I'll be doing in February....<br />
<br />
We have our Christmas conference this week. Saturday is more of a migling and lunch and musical program. Sunday we have a special guest coming. They haven't told us who. The only thing they've said is that it's Sister Hales Behives advisor, "and her husband...." Sillies. They said no picture taking though on Sunday. Interesting. It must be like a celebrity or something! Lol...<br />
<br />
The last picture is of me and Amber Perez. She is so amazing! I love her so much! She leaves on her mission this Wednesday. Her and Sister Katterfeld are actually on the same flight! She reports to the MTC Dec 15.<br />
<br />
I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!<br />
<br />
Have a GREAT week!!!!<br />
<br />
Love, Sister Denson<br />

</div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: large;">President's email: "Miraculous Week"</span></div><div style="text-align: left;">President:</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">This has been such an amazing week. We have been working so hard for over a transfer now, with hardly any success. I know that it's all been a trial of my faith and how much I trust in the Lord. This week we were given so many blessings. We got a solid referral from Hollywood North elders a couple of weeks ago and we've taught her 4 times this week. Crystal is her name and she is so prepared. She knows that the Book of Mormon is true already. While we were teaching her about the Gospel of Jesus Christ and before we were able to extend a date to her she asked what she has to do and when could she be baptized. It was so exciting! She wasn't able to come to church yesterday, but she came to the fireside and she absolutely loved it. She loved hearing from President Monson and being surrounded by such great young single adults.</div><br />
Allison is the name of our other investigator. She is the girlfriend of an investigator of the Hollywood North sisters. She is really great and has a lot of faith. Funny thing is that the same thing happened to us when we visited her to extend a baptism date. She beat us to the chase too. And we weren't even behind because it was the first time that we visited her! Lol she feels the spirit so strongly as she meets with us and as we teach her about our Savior and His Atonement. We have great members that are helping so much with fellowshipping.<br />
<br />
As you can probably guess I am not ready to give up my companion tomorrow. I love her with all my heart. We've definitely become life long friends. It's going to be especially hard to see her go. I love her so much President. She is such a fabulous missionary and a beautiful daughter of God.<br />
<br />
I want to thank you and let you know how much I absolutely love serving in the YSA branch. I love these people so much and I am eternally grateful to be able to serve next to them. My heart and soul is in this work. I love being a missionary and I am fully committed to enduring to the end of my time as a full-time missionary.<br />
<br />
I love you so much! I'm so grateful to serve with you!<br />
I'll see you tomorrow.<br />

Needless to say my interest was peaked because I would squish the package but had no idea what it was. Becoming an aunt was the LAST thing I expected. It was 12:15. I grabbed the package and said I couldn't wait anymore! I opened it and saw the tiny snaps on the shirt and froze. I was just like, "Oh my gosh." Sister Katterfeld, "WHAT??"<br />
Me, still staring out the window, standing frozen, "Oh my gosh." Jaw dropped.<br />
Sister Katterfeld, "WHAT???!!!??!"<br />
Me, starting in a regular tone to almost screaming, "My sister is PREGNANT!!!!!!!!!!!!"<br />
Sister Katterfeld, "How do you know???"<br />
I pulled it all out and was like, "I'M GOING TO BE AN AUNT!!!!!!!!"<br />
Needless to say all I wanted to do was shout it from the rooftops! Holy Cow! I am so excited! I can't stop thinking about it. Next time I see you all Mal will be like 5 months pregnant!!!! I always dreamed of it, but when I was at home and no one was pregnant I just figured it would happen after I got home the second time... I always thought it would be cool to see my sister pregnant when I walked off the plane. Oh my gosh. It's going to happen. Thinking about it right now I hardly have any words to say, except, "I'm going to be the coolest oldest aunt on our side EVER!!!!!!!" Haha I want to go to doctor appointments and help shop and I would be so honored to quilt the baby's room stuff! Holy Cow I'm about to cry right now!!! Tearing up! After being out here and seeing so many broken families (to put it mildly) I can't wait to have all these neices and nephews and the some of my own. They'll all be so blessed to be born and raised into the covenant. Okay, I'm officially crying in the public library! I don't care.<br />
<br />
Needless to say, Thanksgiving was the best day ever! You all know how much I don't care for the dinners. We eventually got invited to two different homes. Elder and Sister Martin made a whole Thanksgiving feast for us Nova missionaries. Force feed #1. Then we went over to the Perez family's for dinner. Amber, their daughter in the YSA, is leaving for her mission the same day Sister Katterfeld leaves. Sad. But I love their family a lot. Brother Perez is the high councilman for our branch and he is there just about every week. Alex, from the branch was there. He baptized Hannah, so you can look back in the pictures (see October baptisms). He's the red head. He's the funniest kid ever. It made dinner a hoot! Force feed #2.<br />
<br />
It was so fun to be with Sister Katterfeld for her first official American Thanksgiving. Obviously they don't celebrate it in Austrailia. <br />
<br />
Last night we got to go to a members home that his mom is from Austrailia. She cooked us a leg of lamb. Sister Katterfeld was in Heaven. It was good, but I wouldn't order it for a menu item. But the dessert was awesome. Pulmova, or something like that. Fabulous! Not too sweet.<br />
<br />
I hope you all have a fabulous week! Thanks so much for everything!<br />
<br />

Sounds like you've all had a good time this week/weekend. I have too!!!!<br />
<br />
My new companion ROCKS! She's actually a temple square sister and she's from Austrailia! Yes, she sounds just like they do in the movies. Lol she has a lot of funny words though.... She got here while I was at home, so she only has three weeks left. She goes back to Salt Lake on December 8th. And we're pretty sure I am getting another Temple Square sister. Should be interesting! I'm excited! She's great though! We are a lot a like and where her weaknesses are are my strengths and vice versa.<br />
<br />
It was a great first teaching experience for our companionship to teach Rev. Graf's classes. I can't tell you how much fun it was and how much I learned. Dad, it too will be one of the most spiritual experiences of my mission. You just walk in there with confidence and tell them you purpose and what we have to share. They had a lot of great questions and a couple from each class was really excited to go to mormon.org. <br />
<br />
Between that day, teaching and driving all day, packing Monday, p-day Tuesday, Transfers and moving Wednesday our week was pretty much consumed. It was great though. We have had a lot of fun. We live with Hermana Barros and Hermana Guzman. Hermana Barros and I were joking this morning that we've only got 2 foreign sister in the mission and we have both of them. Lol awesome!<br />
<br />
Thanksgiving will be interesting this year, being in a singles ward and all. We aren't going to any homes. No one has invited us. We just joke that we're going to go hang out with the IHop workers. Lol it'll be interesting this year.....<br />
<br />
Mom, I got the package finally. It's weird that the mail lady didn't catch that you didn't have a zip code on there. But they get a zip code from the computer. Oh well. I got it. My favorite part though was the pictures!!! They are so awesome!!!!! Is that the family one that you are buying? Because I don't like me in it. I look like crap. At least my head. Maybe you could switch mine out?? PLEASE!!!!! The sisters even told me I look way more "laughy" than every one else.....<br />
<br />
I bought another Christmas Tree ornament this year. I got it from Macy's, but it's totally Florida appropriate. I'll send if off today.<br />
I found a cure for my hair to become curly. Black girl curlers. My hair was so curly yesterday and STAYED curly!!! I felt like Goldielocks when we first took them out. The best part is is that I sleep with a slumber cap on. Every time we knock on a door and a black girl answers, she has a slumber cap on. It's to help keep their hair looking nice. It doesn't get messed up with one on.<br />
<br />
I love you guys! Have a wonderful week!!! LOVE YOU!!<br />
<br />
Love Sam <br />

She has severe carpal tunnel in both hands and can't hardly function anymore. She is off to get surgery done, but we know she will come back a stronger, better missionary. As I too have. Please keep her in your prayers.<br />
<br />
<br />
Hermana Felton came to us late Friday night and it has been SO fun to have four sisters in one companionship. LOL. We split all different ways. I have loved having her back and we have had some fun talks. And reminissing on the good ol' times of Kendall. I love her and admire her so much! I am going to miss her a lot!!! She's hopefully gotten into BYU Provo, and if she has, I'll see her in February! Yay!<br />
<br />
We had a great day on Friday! We were able to have a member present lessons, get new investigators, extend and set baptismal dates, and help improve our members' faith. It was so great!!! Saturday though, of course, was hard. We went back down to 0 goals accomplished. That's the life of a missionary though. :)<br />
<br />
Hermana Barros is also being transfered from this area, so tomorrow I get a new companion. I have NO idea who it will be, but I'm sure I'll be senior companion. That doesn't mean much, but I honestly don't know hardly any of the sisters in the mission any more. It's so weird. Sister Pirotta always said to me, "You know you're getting old in the mission when you don't even know half the missionaries." I never thought I'd get to that point, but it has officially come. I probably won't know anything about the sister that I get to serve with. So interesting!<br />
<br />
Anyway--this Thursday is going to be a great way to start off the new transfer! We get to teach two World Religions classes at Broward College. Reverand Graff (the professor) has had the assistants teach these classes, when they get to Mormonism, for years, but this time he wants sisters. HAHA! The power of Sister Missoinaries!!! Woot woot! Anyway, it'll be a great way for me and my new companion to adjust to each others' ways of teaching, and we'll most definitely have to put our faith in Heavenly Father and pay very close attention to the spirit.<br />
<br />
I am going to miss Hermana Barros so much! She makes me laugh ALL THE TIME!! She says the same about me though. LOL I just love her and admire her. I've wanted to serve with her since day one. We flew out together and I'm really glad I got to meet and serve with her.<br />
<br />
I hope you all know how much I love being a missionary and how much I have a passion for The Gospel of Jesus Christ. I know with all my heart He is MY Savior and Redeemer of the world. I have grown so much and it is only through Him that I have become a better person. The Book of Mormon changes lives. I've seen it change MANY lives, but most importantly my own.<br />
<br />
I love you all so much and I hope you have a wonderful week!!<br />
<br />

We have been so cold this week! It has been raining and raining and pretty much all we have done this week is walk and bus. It's been fun, but none of us are prepared for it! We don't want to turn the heater on in our apartment yet, so I had to buy an extra blanket for my bed. I didn't want to buy it, but knew it would be good for the coming "winter." So mom, yes, I would like it if you could send me a couple more sweaters. We're going to Plato's Closet today (I've never been before, but the sisters love it) so I'll see if there is anything cheap there.<br />
<br />
</div><div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">Just to let you know we will be moving apartments at transfers. I'm pretty sure I'll stay in Nova YSA until February, but I think you'll be able to send packages straight to the apartment. It's just 5 miles east of us. On Broward Blvd and SR 7/441. They're super new apartments and really nice! President Hale kicked the elders out and put them in a dumpy apartment and is putting us sisters in there because the it is more centralized to our work and chapel. The Plantation apartment is clear up in the north west corner of our area. We're working in Ft Lauderdale and Hollywood alot lately.</div><div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">Like I said in President Hales email we met this cool girl Azley yesterday. I was able to go to the baptism with her and fill her in on things and ask/answer questions. It was so fun. Then she came to the CES Fireside by herself! That's HUGE!! No one does that! She sat with us sisters and as we pulled out our notebooks to take notes she did the same! She was writing the entire time! It was so amazing! I'm excited to meet with her on Friday! I'll for sure let you know how it goes.</div><div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">This week has still been slow, but we've met some really cool people. We know we are going to be blessed with all the referrals we are finding and sending and with all the people we talk to, but sometimes it's hard to remember that. Heavenly Father is testing our faith right now, and we are all supposed to be learning something, but it just hasnt' happened yet. I know tought that as we stay strong and have a good attitude through the hard times that we will see the blessings come.</div><div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">My studies have been so great lately! Preach My Gospel is so amazing!! You all need to make it part of your own study. Brother Watson told us that we always need to be studying Chapter 3 because we always need to be able to answer questions for others. And he doesn't mean always as just missionaries, but always for the rest of our lives. With each calling in the Church we have the opportunity to teach. We need to become master teachers.</div><div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">Maddi--and all of you. You need to watch the CES fireside from last night! It was so good! I want to print it off, but they only have the broadcast online right now. Maybe next week.</div><div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">Mom, in the box that you are sending can you send those DVD's that we got at Deseret Book at Conference. I assume you guys aren't watching them... if you are, don't worry about it. We just want to watch some of the videos that they added to it. Namely, Joseph Smith: The Prophet of the Restoration. The sisters were way excited when I told them the Church released it.</div><div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">BTW yes, we are in a new trio. Hermana Barros came with us two weeks ago today. She is SO funny! Holy cow I love her. We all laugh SO much everyday and it just makes these hard weeks that much more fun!</div><div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"></div><div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">Funny Story of the Week: We met God this week. His name is Joshua. He told us that the earth was created by bodily functions. As you can imagine--the land is the poo and the waters are the pee. Haha it was so hard to keep our composure as he was so serioulsy telling us this. He told us that his family wrote the Bible. They travel on the Nile, which is just east of us (as we were standing on Broward Blvd. AKA The A1A) and that he communicates through the television. Oh, and that Christ was crucified in Georgia. Man us missionaries have it all wrong! We're grateful we met him so he could clarify all these things for us.</div><div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">That was Tuesday; Wednesday was super eventful too. This is how I described Wedesday: We rode 7 buses, walked 5-6 miles, talked to MANY crazy people, a lot of cool people and some very prepared people, our laughs were unlimited and the overall experience? Priceless. Man I love being a missionary!!! Only doing this are we able to have the experiences that we have.</div><div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"></div><div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">I hope you all have a great week and enjoy the snow! After the weather being down to the 60's this week I am SUPER nervous for February! I FROZE!!!!!!!!</div><div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"></div><div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">Love, Sister Denson</div><div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"></div>Michelle Densonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07482019658020025508noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1075896216993610867.post-60275301084318601692010-11-01T13:49:00.002-06:002010-11-01T13:49:27.148-06:00November 1, 2010--One Slow Week!!How are you guys??? Other than cold? Nanner nanner! I'm glad I'm not in your position! It's been a beautiful, sunny week! It only rained a couple of days. I believe this today we are officially out of hurricane season. I think.<br />
<br />
<br />
This week has been slow, but fun. We've done a lot of finding. That's when we have our greatest/most hilarious moments. You NEVER know what kind of person is going to answer the door!! We've taken the bus a lot too. I don't know when it was approved by the mission, but we buy bus passes for the month with our missionary funds, and then they reimburse us. I remember that when we tried that in Snapper Creek President hadn't agreed to it yet. Anyway. So we were on the bus the other day and we talk to all sorts of people. We've found so really AWESOME ones! But we were waiting for the bus and Sister Christensen was like, "I don't think anyone is talking to us because of the way we look. Come on, we're three girls, all blonde hair, blue eyes. We have long 'praire' skirts on, and each of us has a bun in our hair. We look like poligamists!!!" Hahaha it was so funny! You probably had to be there, but just think of it.<br />
<br />
We've had a slow week investigator wise. We only have one and she isn't in contact with us right now. She's buffed us on 3 appointments and now her mom is in the hospital, so she is focusing on that. It's tough, but we're learning a lot and have set a lot of goals. Oh, on the 18th of November we get to go teach a theology class at one of the local colleges. Reverand Graff has invited us. He said the elders (the assistants) have done it before, but he wants us sisters to do it this time. He likes the sisters better, but we don't know how or why he likes us better. This'll be the first time sisters go. We're excited! I'll let you know how it goes!<br />
<br />
Sorry this is such a short email, but I emailed a lot of different people today and there isn't a lot to reprort on.<br />
<br />
LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!!<br />
<br />

Hi Guys!<br />
<br />
This week has been so fabulous!! We have each (in my companionship) have had the opportunity to apply what we individually learned in zone conference last week and it has definitely helped me grow and has made the continuous transition back a little easier. Does that make sense? I hope so.<br />
<br />
Tuesday we had the 2 baptisms of Hannah and Sarah. They are so solid and are both working towards serving missions already!! They came out with us on Friday night and what did we do? Tracting! They were baptized for 3 days and were already out tracting!! It was SO awesome and fun!!!!!! President Hale took Sister Zitting and Sister Crane to a baptism that night (don't ask me why....), so Hermana Lealaogata came to Nova with us and knocked some doors as well. It was a great night! <br />
<br />
Last night Hannah came out with us again and we got to teach two awesome girls! Beothie (B. O. T. is how it is pronounced) accepted a date to be baptized on November 23rd. She's excited about the Book of Mormon and to draw closer to God. Yay! Teshea is also excited to read the Book of Mormon and to feel relief. We asked her to describe her feelings after we taught about our modern day prophet and the Book of Mormon. In one word: relieved. Oh my gosh you guys......I LOVE THIS WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seeing peoples demeanor and faith change in a matter of less than an hour is such a testimony builder to me! I love what I do and still want to stay out here for the rest of my life..LOL no, but really, I can't wait to share the gospel for the rest of my life!<br />
<br />
It was fun to see Corrine yesterday. I was talking to President Hale and she walked up to me and was like, "Hi Sister Denson! I'm your moms friend!" and proceeded to give me a big hug. LOL she is adorable. It was definitely fun to see her and to have some fresh salsa for lunch! It was delicious! Thanks!<br />
<br />
Today we are having a change in our companionship :( This has been the plans since transfer day, but it still makes it a little hard. Sister Zitting is going down/back to Hollywood to the ASL program. Sister Barros, who is there now is joining me and Sister Christensen. I love Sister Barros. She reminds me so much of Jessika.<br />
<br />
The other day while we were tracting we ran into two young guys. Tyrell and Robert. They were awesome. Robert just wanted a leader for our day specifically. It was so fun for me to teach him about President Monson and how the Church has been restored in it's fullness. He was one that you were able to be so bold with, and he didn't get offended. Tyrell didn't like it so much, but took it well. We set up an appointment for the Nova elders to teach him Sunday at 4. They went over and he had just gotten home from the hospital. His niece was born preemie and was having a hard time breathing. He remembered his appointment with the elders, so he left the hospital to meet with them. It was so cool! The elders asked why he let the missionaries come back to teach him more and his answer was, "Those girls were so bold about the Church and what they knew, so I just figured if you were that bold and honest about it it has to be a good church!" How cool was that???? I don't want to sound arrogant, but it was me that was so up front with him. Go figure. Me? Upfront? Get outta here. LOL but what's that?? I LOVE THIS WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They have another appointment with him tomorrow at the chapel! I'm so excited for him! He's going to do great things!!!!!<br />

She sent me the following in a letter.)<br />
<br />
Walking off the plane that landed in Salt Lake City was the hardest thing I've ever done; especially knowing Mom was right at the gate. It wasn't time. I wasn't ready to be in Utah or to see my family. My mind was set for February--not August. Everyone was excited to see me, but I couldn't look them in the face. I wasn't ashamed for being sent home, I just wasn't prepared for it. The car ride home was torturous. They tried to make small talk, to help comfort me, but it wasn't working. Walking into the house was even harder. While I stood in the driveway, mom told me something that completely changed everything. Two sisters that I had served with and have grown to love completely "happened" to be in Layton that day. Heavenly Father is so good to me because they were exactly what I needed. Once they walked into my house, it was like all my cares and fears were gone. It was a little bit of Ft. Lauderdale in my home. I was with my sisters once again. Things got a little easier from that point on.<br />
<br />
The next morning I started physical therapy. I had a great physical therapist who was so considerate of my situation and had a personal desire to get me back in the field as soon as possible. I grew to love him and his assistants quickly.<br />
<br />
I was able to do plenty of missionary work while I was at home. I had the pleasure and opportunity to answer questions and tell what it is like to be a Sister Missionary to the beautiful Savannah Birch. I'm grateful for her example and her desire to do what Heavenly Father asks of her, even if it is hard and something she doesn't want to do. I know she will be blessed for it.<br />
<br />
I am grateful for all the help, love, and support the Layton 37th Ward gave to me. I wouldn't have been able to do it without them, the Bishopric, and Stake Presidency. I owe them all SO much! I got the opportunity to spend time with the Relief Society sisters who I sat with on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. They were so kind to let me stay with them.<br />
<br />
I was able to attend four of the beautiful temples we have in Utah: Ogden, Oquirrh Mountain, Salt Lake, and Draper. Each time I went, I felt completely at peace. I knew I was going to go back to the field and I knew it was going to be October 5th. Some days when my back hurt more than usual, I would get sad because I would start to doubt that I was going back. I know it was Satan and I know he tried to get me to not go back. I was not going to allow it. He worked in many other ways too. Hardly anyone called me "Sister Denson." I was always called by my first name. It started to make me feel comfortable...like I was back to "Sammi" again. That affected me more than I expected.<br />
<br />
As hard as it got sometimes, there were definitely more good days. One that will always stick out to me was Sunday, September 26, the day Maddi received her Patriarchal Blessing. It was so amazing to have the opportunity to be there for it.<br />
<br />
That next Monday, I was able to get the letters from my doctor and physical therapist letting the Missionary Department know that I was physically able to return back to Florida and continue serving a full-time mission. I took the letters over to President Dibble that night, after writing my own letter. He said he would fax them off first thing in the morning. We were all a little nervous of how long it would take the Missioanry Department because it was the week of General Conference and we know they don't do mission calls that week.<br />
<br />
Mom and I went to the Draper Temple that morning with our friend, Heidi Fitzgerald. I was super excited to go that day because that is the Temple where I received my endowments and I hadn't been back to that one since.<br />
<br />
Going into the Celestial Room, I felt absolutely peaceful. I knew <i>everything</i> was going to be okay and that I was going back to Florida on October 5. We went to lunch after our session and while there, I received a text from President Hale asking if I was approved to fly. I responded back that I was and about 10 minutes later, I received another text from him saying, "You are now approved to fly on the 7:00am flight on October 5!" Of course, it made me so excited! Although, it made me wonder if President was just jumping the gun, or if I really was approved that quickly.<br />
<br />
Later that night, I was doing some errands with Mom when we got a phone call from President Dibble. He wanted to let me know that I was going back to Florida and that he had my flight plans in hand! I guess President Hale wasn't jumping the gun! When we picked up the flight plans, he told us that only three hours after he faxed them in, he got a call letting him know I was approved. WOW! We couldn't believe how fast it was!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
By Monday afternoon, it still hadn't sunk in yet that I would be on the plane in less than 24 hours. It was a fun, calm, peaceful night that I was able to spend with my family.<br />
<br />
Tuesday was exciting! I said goodbye to Dad, Mom, and Maddi at the security point and my adventure started there. I had to be searched and patted down. When my stuff was being searched, the two security guards were talking to me about their missions! HAHA! It was hilarious! So I got through the security gate, and onto the gate. I checked in and got my seat assignment. Holy cow! I was on my way back to Florida!! The flights were great and it was fun to get to know the new Elders.<br />
<br />
I was able to have dinner in the mission home that night. It was so good to be back amongst these people who I love so much! I got to go out with the Nova YSA sisters that night to an appointment. Sister Zitting and Sister May are such great teachers and I look up to them so much! We had a great lesson with 19-year old Sarah Montlouis. She is so prepared and is completely embracing the gospel.<br />
<br />
Wednesday morning before transfer meeting, as we were all getting ready, we got a text from President Hale telling me to leave my bags in the apartment because I was staying in Nova with Sister Zitting. I was so excited!! I love the YSA so much and being able to serve in a branch. It was funny because the night before, at the dinner table, President Hale asked me if I could serve anywhere in the mission, where would it be. I said YSA. He probably got a kick out of that! Especially because when I was put in YSA down in Snapper Creek, I wanted nothing to do with them.<br />
<br />
Getting started again with missionary work was rough. I went through all the emotions again of feeling inadequate and not good enough to be here. Prayer and faith have played a big role as well as two great companions.<br />
<br />
I know that Heavenly Father knows my needs right now, and as long as I am faithful and obedient, He will always be there to comfort me. I know I will be doing my best for the short amount of time I have left in the mission field and I will be here for as long as He needs me.Michelle Densonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07482019658020025508noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1075896216993610867.post-39704157577022158372010-10-19T10:55:00.000-06:002010-10-19T10:55:17.438-06:00October 19, 2010--Baptisms Tonight!!We have two baptisms tonight!!!! I'm so excited for these two girls! I don't know if I told you, but there are two companionships in the Nova Branch. A set of elders and a set of sisters. The elders teach the guys and the sisters teach the girls. It's interesting. Anyway Sarah, 19 and Hannah, 21 are both getting baptized tonight. Sarah is rock solid! I love her so much!! She is already counting dow the days until her 21st birthday so she can serve a mission. She is so amazing! Hannah is such an interesting girl. I love her, but it is just harder to love her. She's great though. She was very active in her Penticostal church, and is taking a lot of grief from loved ones and friends by being baptized. It's made her really strong. I'll send a picture next week of tonight. <br />
Could you send me the recipe that LuAnn gave me while I was there. I figured it's a good way to put the Reese's that Jason sent me to good use. Lol It should be on the fridge.<br />
<br />
I was wearing my brown earth shoes the other day and the fron of the sole on my left shoe is coming off. I know they have a lifetime guarentee of them. I don't know where the receipts are though. I know I threw the boxes out while I was at home, but I don't know about the receipts. Could you check on their website and see what I need to do to get them replaced? Thanks!<br />
<br />
We have another investigator, Christina, that is so rock solid too. She actually went to school with Sarah, and two members. The members brought her to church 2 weeks ago. A member referral!!! They do exist!!!! It was so awesome. She is praying about a baptism date right now for November 16, so pray for her! She'll be at the baptism tonight, and we know that that will help her with her answer. We're so excited for her!<br />
<br />
I really don't like growing old in the mission. I had to say good bye to 2 of the coolest elders ever yesterday. It's their last transfer and it was the last time I would see them. Elder Hudson goes back to New York, but is going to BYU the next semester, so it made me really happy when he said he'd see me at my homecoming. Except I don't want to talk about my homecoming. Lol I just got back!! He said to keep him posted though so he can drive down. He's so great!!! Elder Ricks was in our district, but got transferred to Boca last Tuesday. He reminds me so much of Zack. I don't know why, but he just does. He's so great. He's grown so much since last year when I served with him in Miami. He's great. We got to hear his testimony yesterday and I'm so proud of him! Lol He's come a long way.<br />
<br />
The last picture is of Sarah with Dom and Devon. Devon got baptized in May I believe and just got his answer that he needs to serve a mission! I'm so excited for him! He baptized Dom in August and is baptizing Sarah tonight. They have the funniest and worst underbites I've ever seen in real life. They are so funny and have the most rock solid testimonies. They're great! I wish you guys could meet them!! Some day...<br />
<br />
Well, I gotta go. Sorry it's so short! We had kind of a slow week.....<br />
<br />
Love you tons and tons!<br />
<br />
Love Sister Denson<br />
<br />
PS Zack and Mal--So sorry for not sending a card! Hope you guys had a great day! I thought about you a lot on Sunday!<br />

How is everything going? Good I hope! I'm doing really good! It feels so good to be back! I LOVE SOUTH FLORIDA!!! And I am so happy to be back in YSA!!! At dinner on Tuesday night President asked, "So Sister Denson, now that you have served all over the mission, if you could go to any area what would it be?" I was like, "You're going to be mad at me for this, but I want to go back to a YSA area. Specifically Miami Beach, but I'd go to any of the three of them." Haha I bet him and the assistants got a good chuckle at that. Lol Wednesday morning as we were getting ready President sent a text that told me to leave all my stuff in the apartment. Aweosme! I was so happy! I still am! We cover the whole stake, which is huge and sort of the Weston ward. They set up appointments and let us know when they are, so then we just show up to them. They aren't good about missionary work and depend completely on the missionaries. Not until they start doing their part will they President put missionaries back in. So mom, tell Corinne to call us when she gets here. We'll see if we can meet up. I only want one thing. A zip up jacket. Not a heavy one Just for at night. It gets a little chilly. Maybe my black cardigan too. Thanks!<br />
<br />
Oh, I actually have 2 companions! We got Sister Christensen yesterday afternoon. And then Sister Zitting will be leaving us in a couple of weeks to go down to Hollywood (Where Sister C came from) and Hermana Barros will come up here with us. But yes, we we will have a lot of responsibility.<br />
<br />
I can't tell you how great I feel physicallly!! My back has not given us one problem yet!! I stretch each morning and it feels great! I hurt on Wednesday because I forgot my anti-inflammatory, but had it by Thursday. Thanks mom!!! I also had a migraine on Wednesday because I was seriously ridiculously overwhelmed. We got home, I got settled a little and then took a Relpax. We were out shortly after that. So we were totally fine.<br />
<br />
We had a multi-stake YSA fireside on Sunday night, and I was able to see so many of the ysa that I love from all over. It definitely boosted my spirt! It's been harder than I thought to get back into the groove of things, but Heavenly Father is helping me so much!<br />
<br />
I forgot one thing though: I printed some pictures of a lot of us girls, but I can't find them. I must have left them in my room. I have the second batch, like from Conference and stuff, but not the others. Can you see if they are in my room? Thanks!<br />
<br />
I love being back and being a full time missionary again. It feels so good! <br />
<br />
We have some great investigators right now. <br />
<br />
Sarah, 19: She's SOLID. She's getting baptized a week from today. She's so amazing. Keeps allof her commitments and she teaches us each time we see her. It's amazing. Her mom is in Haiti and is not happy about her choice, but Sarah knows that she has to get baptized. She's great! She's counting down the days til her 21st birthday so she can serve a mission!! I love her so much!<br />
<br />
Hannah, 21: She's getting baptized November 6th, but we know as soon as she sees Sarah get baptized that she won't want to wait until November. Lol! She loves Sister Zitting so much! I'm a little nervous though because I am not going to baby her as much as Sister Zitting has when she leaves. We're not supposed to.<br />
<br />
Well, I have to go! I love you guys so much! Thank you for all your support and love that you have for me! It means the world to me. I know that I was supposed to be in Utah for that transfer and I know that I am to be back here for the remainder of my mission. I feel very at peace about it. I love you with all my heart!!<br />
<br />
Love, Sister Denson! <br />
